Paradip Port to target 150 MT cargo handling in FY24 The Paradip Port Trust is aiming at 150 million tonne (MT) of cargo handling in the current financial year (FY), and is working to implement a strategy to achieve 500 MT capacity by 2047
With 135.36 million tonne of cargo handled in FY23, the port in Odisha is second only to the Kandla port in Gujarat
The strategy to increase the port's capacity utilisation, prominently includes land allocation for port-led industrialisation, and expanding the cargo basket
Paradip Port plans to become a 100 percent mechanised facility by 2030 which will include the full automation of existing four semi-mechanised berths. Furthermore, in coastal shipping, the port is focusing on augmenting capacity from 74 MT to 100 MT by 2030. The port has earmarked a capital expenditure of Rs 10,000 crore to notch up 400 MT by 2030 from the current 279 MT
The Western Dock Terminal project, which is a key project, will draw an investment of Rs 3,000 crore and add 25 mln tpa in capacity, while the rest of the capex till 2030 will be infused in other eight developmental projects
